'Tis an exciting day for ye old Songs I Wrote. My first vinyl record pressing ever.
I wrote these songs in college dorm rooms and recorded them in my parents' basement over 10 years ago. Now here they are, fully remastered and pressed on wax.
The vinyl format gives these songs a surprising new character. They sound warm and life-like, but also lost and mysterious. It's magic. I barely recognize myself when I listen to this record, like I've stumbled on a lost time capsule or strange clone of myself. It sounds like the me from 10 years ago is standing in the room with me playing these songs, which is really weird but special.
More things that are awesome (please read carefully):
I (Liam) will hand-sign and number each copy and pack it up carefully for shipping.
They're pressed on deluxe 180g "audiophile" vinyl, meaning they're thicker and less prone to warping than standard vinyl LPs.
The colors are incredible (see pictures). Each individual record is unique, but there are two main variants: IRIDESCENT (looks mostly clear but with green foil inside and random gold splotches, and has a rainbow tint in the light) & GREEN/GOLD SWIRL (also transparent but with a shiny green/gold hue and random darker green swirls).
Speaking of which - these were hand-pressed with great care at Smashed Plastic, a kick-ass independent record plant in Chicago (not a random overseas corporate brick factory).
The master lacquer was cut specifically by the mastering engineer, Carl Saff, which is a special touch. He performed the great feat of cutting a 27-minute B-side with little reduction of sound quality, which is unheard of. This was a massive risk, but somehow it paid off, and the result is a rare technical feat of audio.
I'm including a 2-sided lyric/story insert, carefully designed and edited by me.
I'm including an ugly 2-sided "BUMMER" poster (12 x 12"), designed by me.
I'm including a holographic "BUMMER" sticker (exclusive to this vinyl).
All of this will be packed up into a poly jacket for safe keeping. Also, the record itself is packed in an ultra-smooth rice paper innersleeve, which is another fun touch.
As always, MP3 and WAV audio files will be delivered to you by email.
